On January 12, 2010, a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the country of Haiti, approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi) west of
Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.
About 200,000 people died and thousands are still missing and
buried under the toppled buildings.
