A Brief History of IEC San Francisco & San Jose<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n
On Thanksgiving Day 1983, Rev. Moses Yang, president of Christian Evangelical Mission in New Jersey, appointed Pastor Stephen Hosea, living in Los Angeles at the time, to survey church planting opportunity in the Bay Area.
\nThe finding of around 4000 Indonesians with only one Indonesian church indicating that there was a great need to establish additional churches there.<\/p>\n

In January 1985, after over a year of prayers and God\u2019s guidance, Rev. Moses Yang commissioned Ps. Stephen Hosea to plant a new church for the Indonesian community in the Bay Area. Then in April, Indonesian Evangelical Church in San Francisco was formally established.<\/p>\n

Realizing the significant spiritual needs of Indonesians in San Jose while actively serving at IEC San Francisco, on that same year from May to September, Ps. Hosea expanded his ministry by initiating Bible Study and Prayer meetings there. That initiative resulted in the establishment of Indonesian Evangelical Church in San Jose in September 1985.<\/p>\n

By God’s grace, both churches have continued to grow in both quantity and quality and ministries have expanded from Indonesian-only congregations to English and Chinese, plus planting of IEC churches in Sacramento and San Diego, among other programs.
\nGod has done tremendous works from the very beginning, and we believe that He will continue to complete His work until the coming of Christ.<\/p>\n

As we joyfully celebrate our church’s 40th anniversary on 20 September 2025, we give thanks to God for His marvelous grace and good works throughout the years, and continue to serve to bring glory to Him only.
