The 5 Solas – Soli Deo Gloria

God’s glory is the ultimate goal of Christian life and of God’s creation itself. God made everything for His glory, and for His glory alone. His glory shines in everything that He made. Since God made man in His image, to reflect the glory of the Maker, it becomes our purpose to glorify God. The tragic fall into sin marred the image of God in man. Instead of radiating the glory of their maker, human beings obscured that image. Like a broken mirror, human beings reflected a distorted view of God, hence idolatry. Not just failing to reflect God’s glory, humans were in danger of eternal separation from God. God took the action to restore the broken image by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, who is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). Jesus is God, and as a man, He reflected God perfectly. It is in Him that we encounter the true God. It is through His saving work on the cross that the image of God in us can be slowly restored. Christians understand that they live to glorify God because Jesus has given them back their purpose. Whatever we say and do, we do it for God’s glory and His glory alone. Soli Deo Gloria.
