ANNOUNCEMENT
1. We would like to welcome everyone who joins our service. May the Lord bless us all the days of our life! Everybody is invited to join our service every Sunday, as well as other fellowships and activities. After the service, please stay for some refreshments and fellowship in the kitchen area.
2. Training on how to share the Gospel will be held next Sunday, August 19th in Indonesian from 12.00 to 2.00 pm, lead by Paul Tjam. The training is open to all congregations who want to share the gospel of Jesus’ salvation to their families and friends who have not believed or want to learn how to share effectively.
3. Rev. Hosea and Ms. Esther will leave for Jakarta on August 13th and will return to the USA on September 12th. He will hold a mission survey in Menado, teach Counseling Psychology class at the Southeast Asian Bible Seminary (SAAT) Malang, lead mission trip to Seram Island, Maluku, and perform holy matrimony in Bali. Pray for their journey and ministry there.
4. Mission trip to Ambon, Seram and surrounding islands will be held from Aug 30th to Sep 2nd (will depart from Jakarta on Aug 29th) with 29 participants. Activities include: Revival meeting for Junior and Senior High School (6 schools), Revival meeting for children and adult/general, Sunday school teacher and family seminars, community services (medical check-up, handling of plants/seeds). The participants (apart from Rev. Timotius) are Paul Tjam, Rini Buntaran, Elianne Tjam, Joana Maria, and Hari Rediawan. Please pray for their preparation, travel and ministry there.
5. ISF/De Anza will be hosting the International Students Fall Welcome Dinner on Thursday, Sept 6th  from 3:30 – 7:30 pm at Valley Church, Cupertino.  We expect more than 300 new students.  This is a great mission field. We invite you to use this opportunity to serve and to ‘catch’ new soul. Register at https://goo.gl/d4wK5a, and there is a mandatory training that you have to attend, Saturday, Aug 25th at 10 – 12 noon or Sunday, Aug 26th at 1 – 3 PM (lunch provided at 12 PM) at Valley Church. You may serve as BBQ chefs, drivers (De Anza – Valley Church), sports, board/card game leader, table host (about 12 students) or food server and clean up. For more information, contact Erwin Widiarta (erwin.widiarta@gmail.com). On Sep 4th the Young Adult Committees will open a booth (as annually) at De Anza College at 12 – 1.30 PM. 6. The Church will be hosting a Thanksgiving Lunch in order to reach out to new friends and as a thanksgiving to God. It will be on Saturday, November 17th at 11:00 to 2.30pm at Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, Cupertino. The theme is “Give Thanks”. Registration will begin on Sep 2nd. More details will be announced later. The target is 400 people. Please pray for the committee in preparing for this event. Start to think about it, pray for it, and invite family and friends to come.
7. We will have our combined Christmas Celebration 2018 in San Jose (in English) on the evening of Saturday, December 15, and we are inviting you to take part in it! We will have drama/play/worship, and much more. If you are interested in helping out in any capacity, please reach out to Joan or Glenn.
8. IEC San Jose is inviting all daughters, mothers, wives, and sisters to join our first ever Women’s Fellowship on Saturday, Sep 22 from 11am – 2pm (in English; high school age/above, place TBA). It will be a joyful time of fellowship, worship, and prayer. Save the date, and stay tuned for more details in the upcoming weeks!

PRAYER ITEMS FOR THE WEEK
1. Growth: church attendance, spiritually (reading the Bible, attending Bible study group, attending church fellowship and serving).
2. Congregation: those who are sick, pregnant (Ferliana Hioe), on vacation, looking for work and those who have struggles in their lives.
3. World: help for earthquake victims in Lombok & Bali and fire in California, conflict in Middle East, North & South Korea peace process.
4. Country: Indonesia (preparation of the Asian Games and elections 2019). USA (stability and economic and political growth).
